It comes with numerous functions and options which are easy to get to and fine tune to work to your liking. Windows Explorer seems to suit your needs when you first start using it, but after a while you begin to wonder if theres a better alternative to having all of those open folder windows all over your desktop. For anyone that uses it i highly recommend reading the help file to really understand all that it can do. XYplorer is a heck of an alternative to Windows Explorer. The things it can do is extensive and it takes quite awhile to really get a hang of the program. Xyplorer allowed me to navigate to that folder and when I double clicked on the file I had in fact created when explorer had crashed: Clicking Yes didnt open the file, and XYplorer closed too, although without the WER-like delay that was what probably happened when explorer took time to close. So say you sort by size and then by file extension in a directory of jpg/gif the gif's would be sorted by size followed by the jpg's sorted by size in the same folder listing. You can sort not just by one thing but you can sort by one thing and then by any of the other extensive fields that you can display. You can customize the status bar to show all kinds of things, like total time of all the mp's3 in the directory, using the status bar commands available. Like pretty much every color/font setting for every element there is, is configurable. XYplorer is considered to be an advanced version of the Windows file manager (Windows explorer), and includes features such scripting, a multi-tabbed dual pane user-interface, a powerful search function. Just the fact you can create a customized toolbar, not just of the buttons they provide but that you can create your own buttons using the extensive internal commands available is great.
A major version only comes out every couple years, but yeah, you do. XYplorer is the best manager to manage the files Ive ever used, automate and simplify my work on your computer like never before.
